Our first rally of the Summer Holidays was held at Friends School Lisburn from 5th -7th July 2024 with 27 vans attending the lovely setting within the school grounds and original building built circa 1794.
Our hosts Betty & Bailey, assisted by David & Christine, made everyone welcome on arrival and throughout the weekend.
The Friday night get together was the usual ‘Meet & Greet’ followed by a game of Bingo ably called by our host Bailey. Music followed, provided by our hosts. Catch up conversations filled the rest of a very pleasant evening.
Saturday morning and afternoon saw many heading into Lisburn town center for some fine dining and, of course, shopping with more than one or two observed returning with a variety of purchases.
Saturday night we were entertained by the ever popular Housty who played popular numbers with everyone enjoying the music and most, at one time or another, taking to the floor for a dance or two. The raffle held during the evening raised over £90.
At the Sunday ‘Coffee Morning’ in the absence of our chairman, the Vice Chairman, Sam Arlow, conducted proceedings welcoming new member Ken Little, and giving birthday greetings to David Caskey. He then, as safety officer, gave a short talk on the safe carriage of spare gas cylinders and recommended locker markings if doing so. Sam also reminded members that dogs should always be kept on leads at club rallies and meets and not allowed to run around free,
Andy Clarke then did the Number Plate Draw the winners of which were Bob & Iris McEwan and Isaac & Pauline Grant.
The Rally closed at 1:00pm with all heading off home and looking forward to our next meet at Irvinestown.
